#4 Practice for Timing

One of the characteristics of Wadaiko is that it has a large action for drumming. But it is difficult to measure the exact timing because of that, especially drumming on the "back beat".

Using Nohgaku's "Sanbasoh" as a motif, we will find some hints on "to take timing" techniques, which are very important in traditional Japanese performing arts.

#6 Separations of right/left, ON/OFF 1

Some people add unnecessary extra force on swing up arm at the same time drumming by one hand. This is a obstacle to create an accurate  rhythm and supple/sharp movements. By moving right/left arm differently and by being able to control two types of touch ON/OFF, the quality of your current performance should be dramatically improved. Try to learn these techniques through #6-7lesson.
