(period : 3/May/2020 ~ 3/Nov/2020)
category : rhythm, drumming, expression
Mitsu-uchi is widely used as a basic rhythm, regardless in folk entertainments and new Kumi-daiko style. In this lesson, you practice to play 8 Mitsu-uchi patterns adding some accents. In this practice, there are some important points to play a smooth and comfortable base, and ideas to improvise various cool phrases.
In the second [ADVANCED] video, you can experience playing base with Hase`s Odaiko performance, and get a original cool phrase!
Let's work on some training menus with the aim of creating a body that can make good sounds and good appearance, playing as easy as possible. It is not a muscle training that puts a heavy load on the muscles. It is a training that pays close attention to each part of the body, makes it fully operate, and smoothly links them to create a flexible movement.
There might be hidden the tips that can dramatically improve your performance!
One of the characteristics of Wadaiko is that it has a large action for drumming. But it is difficult to measure the exact timing because of that. Especially, it's tricky to hit the "back beat" and necessary special techniques for playing that. Using Nohgaku's "Sanbasoh" as a motif, we will find some hints on the "take timing" techniques, which are very important in traditional Japanese performing arts, and work on the practice of striking at the right time.
It covers almost 100 of the basic rhythm that is most suitable for usual hand exercise. There is no commentary this time, and you will be immersed in playing the 1 bar rhythm. By learning those many rhythms into your body, you will be able to calmly respond to unexpected ad lib and solo performances, and it will be very useful when writing songs. Above all, this practice is fun! !!
